East Meets West.

A new home, for a young family, on a historic property mixing cultural traditions of their families.

The Home of Chris and Vance Saraus
Docented by the Herndon Woman's Club

Vance and Chris Saraus moved around various Northern Virginia communities before they decided to plant their roots in Herndon in 2017. After their first son Leo arrived and Chris’s mom, Joy, decided to retire to help care for him, they both decided they needed more space for their growing family. After a long wait, they moved to the newly built community of McMillen Farm, along with the rest of the neighborhood, in the summer of 2023.

Their discovery of the McMillen Farm was serendipitous, and from the history behind the neighborhood to their lovely new neighbors, it continues to delight and surprise them. Most importantly, their home has become a great space for them to house their extended family and friends who love to visit often.

Vance and Chris are first-generation immigrants and much of their morals and traditions were instilled by their Asian (Vietnamese and Filipino) families. As part of their heritage, the first items they brought into their home were rice and a money tree. These items symbolize abundance in their cultures, so you will find them all around their home.

The Saraus’ wish their abundance rubs off on you and your family as you tour their home. Happy Holidays!
